A spinal cord stimulator implant procedure might help relieve chronic back pain.
While not everyone is a candidate for spinal cord stimulator implant, some are lucky enough to experience relief from electrical impulses. When successful, a patient can be treated for chronic pain with this minimally invasive approach.
The following conditions would make one a candidate for the procedure.
Chronic neck pain with or without arm pain
Prior back surgery (or surgeries) but pain remains (or worsens)
Peripheral neuropathy
Peripheral vascular disease
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)
Refractory angina
Other treatments have not helped reduce the pain
Although many people have benefited from spinal cord stimulation, the treatments should not be considered if a patient has a correctable condition that can be treated surgically.
